Breast Reduction

What Is Breast Reduction?

Breast reduction, or reduction mammaplasty, removes excess breast tissue, fat and skin to create smaller, lighter breasts that are in better proportion with the rest of your body.

Breast reduction is for women whose breasts hinder daily activities, cause neck and back pain or rashes, and limit clothing choices. Even very petite women can have large breasts that cause discomfort or embarrassment. Breast reduction patients are often very happy after surgery because they are better proportioned and can better enjoy life.

Which Breast Reduction Is Right for You?

For women who want smaller, lighter breasts and relief from the physical discomfort that overly large breasts can cause.

For women whose large breasts also sag. Reducing and lifting the breasts in a single procedure creates a proportionate, more youthful contour.

For men with overdeveloped chest tissue who want a flatter, firmer and more masculine chest.

What Can Breast Reduction Improve?

Breast reduction can relieve many of the physical and everyday problems caused by overly large breasts.

Reduces the weight that strains the neck, back and shoulders, and the grooves left by bra straps.

Helps relieve the rashes and irritation that can develop beneath large breasts.

Makes exercise and everyday activities more comfortable.

Brings the breasts into better proportion with your frame, so clothing fits more comfortably.

Reshapes the breasts and raises them to a more youthful position on the chest.

Am I a Good Candidate?

Breast reduction is a highly individualized procedure. During your consultation, Dr. Greco will examine your breasts, discuss the size and shape you would like to achieve and explain what can realistically be expected.

You may be a good candidate if:

  • Your breasts feel too large for your frame
  • You have neck, back or shoulder pain caused by the weight of your breasts
  • You have rashes or skin irritation beneath your breasts
  • Your breasts limit your physical activity or clothing choices
  • You are in good overall health and do not smoke
  • You have realistic expectations for improvement

The Breast Reduction Process

Consultation

Dr. Greco examines your breasts, reviews your medical history and discusses your goals. He then develops an individualized surgical plan and explains what to expect.

Surgery

Breast reduction is performed under anesthesia. Dr. Greco removes excess breast tissue, fat and skin, then reshapes the breasts and repositions the nipples for a natural, proportionate contour.

Recovery

Your chest is wrapped in dressings and a supportive garment while you heal. Swelling and bruising are common and fade over the first few weeks, and strenuous activity is limited until Dr. Greco clears you.

Results

Your breasts are smaller and lighter right away, and their final shape develops as the swelling subsides. Incision lines fade over time and can be hidden by a bra or bikini.

Facial Rejuvenation
