What Is Eyelid Surgery?

Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, addresses the changes that can make the eyes appear older or tired, including loose skin, sagging upper eyelids, and puffy or baggy lower eyelids. Dr. Greco evaluates the upper and/or lower eyelids along with the rest of the facial features to create an individualized treatment plan designed to achieve a natural, refreshed appearance.

Which Eyelid Surgery Is Right for You?

For patients with loose, crepe-like or sagging upper eyelid skin.

For patients with puffy or baggy lower eyelids caused by excess skin, fat or tissue.

For patients with aging changes affecting both the upper and lower eyelids.

What Can Eyelid Surgery Improve?

Eyelid surgery can improve several of the changes that contribute to an aging or tired-looking appearance.

Excess eyelid skin can be removed to create a flatter, firmer eyelid contour.

Upper blepharoplasty can address skin that droops or sags toward the lash line.

Lower blepharoplasty can address excess fat, skin and tissue beneath the eyes.

By improving the contours around the eyes, eyelid surgery can help create a brighter, more refreshed appearance.

Am I a Good Candidate?

Eyelid surgery is one of the most popular anti-aging procedures performed on adults over 35. You may be a suitable candidate if you have loose or crepe-like eyelid skin, upper eyelid skin that droops or sags over the lash line, or puffy or baggy lower eyelids. Candidates should also be in good physical health and have reasonable expectations for improvement.

The Eyelid Surgery Process

Pre-Surgery

Before scheduling surgery, you will consult with Dr. Greco to discuss your needs and desired cosmetic outcome. He will examine your upper and/or lower eyelids and the rest of your facial features and use this information to develop your individualized treatment plan.

Day of Surgery

On the day of surgery, you will receive medication to help you relax and prevent you from feeling pain. Dr. Greco will make small marks on your eyelids to guide him during the procedure.

Surgery

Dr. Greco makes small incisions on the eyelids and, through these incisions, removes excess fat, skin and tissue. The remaining skin is tightened to create a flatter and firmer eyelid contour before the incisions are closed with tiny sutures.
