What Is Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty, often called a nose job, is a surgical procedure that reshapes the nose to refine its size, shape and profile, bringing it into natural balance with the rest of your face. Because the nose sits at the center of the face, even subtle changes can make a meaningful difference in overall facial harmony.

The procedure can also correct structural concerns inside the nose that make breathing difficult. Dr. Greco evaluates the nose along with the rest of your facial features to create an individualized surgical plan, with the goal of a nose that looks natural, suits your face and functions well.

Which Rhinoplasty Is Right for You?

For patients who want to change the appearance of the nose, such as its size, the shape of the bridge or tip, or its proportion to the rest of the face.

For patients whose nasal structure makes it difficult to breathe. Correcting the internal structure of the nose can improve airflow.

For patients who want to improve both the appearance of the nose and the way it functions in a single procedure.

What Can Rhinoplasty Improve?

Rhinoplasty can address many of the features that leave patients unhappy with the appearance or function of the nose.

Adjusts a nose that appears too large, too small, too wide or too narrow for the face.

Smooths a bump on the bridge or corrects a depression for a more refined profile.

Refines a tip that is bulbous, drooping or upturned, and reshapes nostrils that are wide or uneven.

Improves a nose that is crooked or off-center, whether naturally or as the result of an injury.

Corrects structural problems that restrict airflow through the nose.

Am I a Good Candidate?

Rhinoplasty is a highly individualized procedure. During your consultation, Dr. Greco will examine your nose and facial features, discuss the changes you would like to see and explain what can realistically be achieved.

You may be a good candidate if:

  • You are unhappy with the size, shape or profile of your nose
  • You have difficulty breathing because of the structure of your nose
  • Your facial growth is complete
  • You are in good overall health and do not smoke
  • You have realistic expectations for improvement

The Rhinoplasty Process

Consultation

Dr. Greco examines the structure of your nose, your skin and your facial proportions, and discusses your goals. He then develops an individualized surgical plan and explains what to expect.

Surgery

Rhinoplasty is performed with anesthesia so that you remain comfortable. Dr. Greco reshapes the bone and cartilage beneath the skin to create the planned contour.

Recovery

A splint is typically worn for about a week to support the nose as it heals. Swelling and bruising around the nose and eyes are common and fade over the first couple of weeks.

Results

The new shape of your nose becomes visible as the initial swelling subsides. Subtle swelling continues to resolve over the following months as the final, refined result develops.
